In 2021, my friend Anastasia Wasko (no relation as far as we can tell!) let me know she was in the market for a book designer. I jumped at the chance to design and lay out this self-published work of autofiction. (Kind of in between memoir and fiction.)
Making the cover for Meta Work from Anastasia’s own photos was really fun. The book is about a painful and chaotic time in her life, but one that led to a lot of learning and self-discovery, and Anastasia has a bright, fun, distinct aesthetic herself, and I aimed to express all that in the cover design.
In contrast, the interior is fairly simple, which is what you want. It’s basic and very readable, with a pleasant font, and all the proper standards of book layout applied.
Here’s the back cover.
The book itself in print form!
I also designed the eBook! See Anastasia’s website to buy it!
