Blue Marble Arts

Art Museum & Galleries

Blue Marble Arts Museum & Galleries is an art gallery in a renovated former firehouse. They primarily showcase the lifetime work of visionary artist Marilyn Reynolds, including drawings, prints, and paintings, featuring a 100-foot-long work on canvas, Composition in the Round.

The museum called me up before they opened to talk about a logo. I was able to get one of the first tours of the place, and I was blown away by Marilyn’s work and her amazing life story. One of the paintings that spoke to me most deeply was a huge non-representational piece called Blue Dot. Almost as soon as I saw it, I wanted to reference it in the logo.

When I arrived for our next meeting, ready to present some logo ideas to show them, the logo with Blue Dot sort of fell out of the pile of papers I had, and Marilyn immediately grabbed it and said “That’s it!” Logo presentations don’t always go quite so smoothly! It was amazing – it felt like magic.

Now the logo is on a giant, brightly colored sign I see almost every day on my commute! If you’re ever in Stone Ridge, give the museum a call and make an appointment to see Marilyn’s art. The place is truly a hidden gem!
