The Center for Post-Carbon Logistics
Environmental Non-Profit
The Center for Post Carbon Logistics is a small, local nonprofit that advocates for near-zero emission merchant shipping using education, advocacy, and engineering.
They came to me for help because their original website wasn’t telling their story. It was chock-full of useful information but had a few small images and a one long line of text down the middle of the page. While the site was super informative, it was visually unappealing and the content was unorganized. I proposed a re-design that would leverage the stunning visual themes of water and wind, while fully explaining the organization’s mission and initiatives, as well as organizing the plentiful information on their site into searchable blog categories.
The Center’s logo was designed by the founder some time ago, but was made without the appropriate tools. I didn’t so much re-design it as I cleaned it up and re-drew it.
Before: Old Website Design
After: My Design
My new design features large, well-curated images of wind-powered ships at sea, with a clean nautical color palette and cohesive fonts. The site is divided into pages that make sense and truly tell the whole story of CPCL. The comprehensive news & media page includes not only the group’s extensive blog posts and “flip book” PDFs of all their publications, but an RSS feed that displays news from other environmentally-minded maritime sources. The “Cohort” page displays logos and links to like-minded organizations in a neat way.
